1. It's illegal. 2. It's a great way to install viruses, trojans, spyware, and all kinds of nasty things onto your computer. They usually are very hard to remove. 3. It might not work (but you can guarantee that the aforementioned viruses will).

Are you implying that you want to carry pirated software on your site? I'm really harsh in my criticism of any LR site that does that (instant 1). It shows a lack of effort and pretty much guarantees that if your site does become popular, you'll get shut down -- it's self-defeating. There are plenty of alternatives to try - open-source, freeware, demos, etc. You could even try contacting software authors directly. Many authors would be happy to have another distribution channel.

Just my opinion (and I will probably get slammed for this), I think it really depends on if the product is still being supported or not. There are alot of great programs out there that have been abandonded by the authors. True, it is illegal no matter what. Just stating my opinion is all. I choose not to do it simply because I can replicate 95% of the software out there since I am a programmer - and replication is 100% legal. Replication (and adding new features) is how the software world evolves.

| Quoted from: Tay on 2009-10-04 01:32:07 I laugh at the people who say "You get a virus", If you still get viruses that your firewall, Av or As do not get then you really need a new AV. |
I agree. Getting viruses these days is more a result of carelessness. If you take care to scan downloads with a few different products *and* you download from a reputable source, it's usually fine.Pirated software usually has other problems like the crack messing up the way it runs, certain features not working properly, etc. I'm not even necessarily against piracy morally, I just think that it's a bad idea to host pirated software on a site for many other reasons. Especially when there are plenty of legal alternatives out there if that's the area you want to be in.

1. it's illegal. Who cares ???2. NO that was back in 00'. I can safely say that i haven't bought one single program in my life. My pc works with no problems at all. 3. WOW fear and fear that's what your implying. I don't have any viruses at all and i visited some of the most dubious sites on the net. The reason why i use these programs that i don't have money and why pay if i can get it for free. Until the law says that the things i have on my pc is my own business and they only clap me if i'm distributing it for money... i can do what i want. My 2 cents
