Why Use LinkReferral?
"I just read a very old post in one of our linkreferral topics and it compelled me to write this post. I won't mention the members name but the member indicated that they are a looong time member and being such "is tired of" what he sees on member sites. Basicly just ranting that he generally does not see quality being put out. Well needless to say his post (and some of the replies who agreed with him) kinda p'ed me off.First of all, why use Linkreferral if not to get feed back as to how to improve our sites? If you see a site which is lacking in your opinion, give your review with suggestion on improvement and quit your whinning! That is one of the purposes of linkreferral. Secondly, to the replies who agreed with him and took it a step further by adding that they are tired of people using the review process to "increase the ranking of their site", how a person choses to select the sites he or she reviews is TOTALLY UP TO THAT PERSON. Of course people use the reviews to increase their site ranking! That too is one of the puposes of spending 30-40 minutes of your time using the service. Where did these guys come from? If they are such the gurus and experts, what are they doing in these forums? There are way too many other things an advanced Internet Marketer could be doing to improve thier name rec. and site visibilty besides surfing our forums making stupid inappropriate post. If anybody here is using Linkreferral for other reasons than to - 1) Get advice and tips on how to improve your websites look and functionality and 2) Surf and review the other linkreferral websites to increase your category ranking, please let me know. Am I the only one missing something here? Thanks in advance." |

How true. Like you I use Link Referral to get good feedback about my site. The comments I have had have enabled me to radically change my site over the past year. I have also had a 200% increase in traffic as a result of Link Referral. I think that the negativity which some folk have is probably just frustration. If you don't like doing this then don't do it. I'm 70 years old and I love this business. You get to know lots of lovely people. I've had lots of personal messages from LR members who go out of their way to help. No you are not the one missing the point they are.

I think LR is great because you get to help other people improve their websites by suggesting things they can change to make everything better. The whole point of clicking 30 sites everyday and doing the 5 referrals and 1 forum post is to get your site in the top 10 so that everyone else doing their clicks for the day see your site before anyone elses. You understand it correctly and I love this site. I have gotten a lot of feedback on my site and it's changes and of course I also received a lot of people bookmarking my site because they like what they saw/heard (I have a radio station http://www.smokintunz.com ....) and that is WHY I am here doing this as often as I can. If I don't get it done every day, I at least do every other day and that helps to keep me in the top 10 listings in my category. :)

I think for the time required of us, there are great benefits to linkreferral. I like seeing other people's sites, and gaining ideas for mine that way. Also, I truly get on sites I wouldn't normally discover and I plan to return for shopping. Not to mention that getting reviews from others is invaluable. I do emphasize, though, that we must be honest in our reviews for them to be useful, and not simply blast through with 5s!

Yes, I agree Elizabeth. Review should strive to be not only honest but insightful to the site owner as well. Most sites I surf - I surf without a method, I'll just start diving into cats that interest me that evening - surprisingly deserve 5s. If I see one that does not, I rate it accordingly.

I've noticed that too. Most sites I go to really are excellent. I think there are a lot of good businesses with good sites on linkreferral. We just want even more people to discover us!

Link Referral is a great site, I to found link referral by accident about a month ago, since then, I have had a huge increase in Traffic, but the best part is other website designers and owners give there opinion be it good or bad, Link Referral is a must for website owners I Think.

Totally cool everyone has posted feedback. i forgot to mention something very important that I learned from a review of my site so I'll share it now. Keywords! the other day someone reviewed my site and suggested that I rename my listing because they felt it would better describe my actual content.....Viola!! I got a new keyword phrase out of the deal. Just wanted to point out something else we can all look for in those reviews. whether good or bad, something positive can always be gained from the opinions of others.

I love link referral! After just 1 week of using it I saw my website traffic go from about 5-15 unique visitors a day to about 50! I have had multiple sign ups as well. Additionally I have had great feedback that has helped me so much in improving my website. I love how this community is able to work so well together and help each other!

I have used Link Referral for a few weeks now and it has been helpful in getting more visits and hits to my site as well as help me network with a couple of people in the similar business as me which is probably the best asset.

The best thing about LR is that I get to see reviews on my web site. Not very many people post on my guestbook, send me e-mails, or rate my short stories, but here I get opinions from people who don't mind hurting my feelings.

I just wanted to say that I have only been with Link Referral a short time, but in the time I have been here I have not only received some good advise for improving my site, but I have also found alot of Great sites that I will use in the future. I plan on doing alot of my Christmas shopping through sites here, to get the great deals offered, and the unique gifts!

I love to get good advice, and Linkreferral is a great place to get it. And when I review other people's sites it sometimes reminds me of things that maybe I haven't been doing lately and should get back to. If somebody doesn't care for Linkreferral then by all means go somewhere else. Those of us who like it will enjoy and benefit from it.

I like Linkreferral because I have noticed and increase in traffic and it has a much better selection of urls for web surfing than on traffic exchanges. I have found many interesting sites that I will use in the future here.

It certainly is a positive help whether you are interested in marketing on-line or not.Most of the time reviews are helpful and supportive. I for example will not review a site if I don't feel I have something constructive to say.

Very well written. Sometimes I think what takes some people aback about LR is that there is some actual work involved and that there really is no way to game the system. Either you do the work or you don't. And if you don't want to well then you should just go look for something more to your liking. After all it's not like there aren't other traffic exchange sites out there.

I like the site and I take all comments on board. The only that I find is that when I am doing my site visits, unless I go to the same ones all the time, the sites are not very good. The best ones are always nearer to the top. Now, I know that this seems obvious, but the thing is, if there were more good sites, they would all be vying for the top places, which would be good for us all.

Sue,I must respectfully disagree. All being near the top means with Link Referral is that the person has done their LR exchange work recently. For myself I also often get bored with looking at the same ones in the top spot over and over so sometimes I will go to the middle, or even towards the bottom. Now admittedly sometimes the site will be one that the owner is no longer working on, but sometimes the site is quite good, it's just that they have not been into LR for a while.

I use LR to get feedback on my site (reviewers have found mistakes I've missed), and to increase the exposure of my site. I've only been a member for a couple of months, but I currently have 17 regular visitors who have shared some of my articles on Digg, StumbleUpon, ect.

I agree with what you stated. Here are a few additional comments: 1.) Many many LR members receive but don't participate. Check out the member profiles as you do your reviews. Is it fair for you to review a site that has gotten 11K hits from LR and never given one review. Check out the profiles and you'll see what I mean. I personally only review new sites and sites of members who participate. The non participants shouldn't be reviewed so they sink to the bottom and out of sight. 2.) I spend a great deal of time on my reviews and very often get nothing in return. I understand all of are busy and we need to make the 5/30/1/1 but LR is about giving feedback so all members excel. 3.) Spammers: If you see a forum post or receive a review from a spammer report that individual to LR Admin. Lets all support ridding LR of the spammers.
