It depends on how much you put in. If you have free time to visit other folks sites then they tend to visit yours. I had 8 visitors last month as I only went to linkreferral twice. Most of my visitors only visit one page - my matrixstats inform me. An incentive needs to reward those who visit your site for longer, otherwise this trend will continue. Is it worth it? I will give it 3 months and then stop if it has not changed. I have had 338 hits in last month. So, guess it just depends on key motivators.

I would think that in the long run it has to help boost your sites visibility, but I have no proof of that. At least for a while I intend on visiting this site on a daily basis and doing what they suggest to boost my site.

If the links are not nofollow, yes, it did help. But if you are referring to google's pagerank, they are getting rid of that. Too many ways to manipulate it. So, directories have no bearing on pagerank, but they do help in getting traffic. Especially for big directories like yahoo, DMOZ, etc.
