Undestanding the importance of design
"Although I took some time to design my website, I think I could ending up getting bad reviews for my honesty. I've only been here a few days and I love it! I like the idea and I also like looking at other ideas. But there is one trend i see, lots of people just seem to write nice reviews just for the sake of getting a nice review back. Of course that's one way to make the system work but I believe in honesty, telling the truth.It's like telling the fat lady she looks great in those stripey magenta hot pants! I think lots of people like me would be thankful for an honest opinion. You can pick a fault in any site in fact i could show you more than a few in my super-tees.de page and plenty of problems on eBay. I'm not suggesting everyone insult each other, but I am suggesting we be truthful. The more honest we are the more important this page becomes over time, the more important our links also become and the more we can learn from each other. So if you get a bad review from me or anyone else, it doesn't mean it's an insult it's just an opinion and opinions are important. So lets have fun!" |

I agree with what you're saying. We do need to be honest in evaluation and not just look at raising our rating. It took me 30 pages just to do 5 reviews, and I look at pages that interest me. Keep it up!

When reviewing site it is a matter of integrity to complete honest reviews. Another influence must be to encourage not discourage so the commend, recommend, commend policy. There are invariably any number of faults in any given site but these do not need to be covered in any single review. The quality of a revieew can be reviewed in the light of the amount of specifics in the review, the evidence of the depth of review, and the quality of the person doing the review (A to D). Unfortunately we will not be able to get away from those who are here for a quick fix but those of us who take time need to work together to improve, if you find a webmate keep in contact with them.

Although I must praise you a little bit here and say I think your site is great! First of all I would love to emigrate out to New Zealand and enjoy the more easy way of life instead of being here in Bavaria, where it's all just work, work, work! Although it is very nice. I've never been to your side of the world even though my mother had a lovely house there. But I shall come soon!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I personally never read reviews before visiting a site, so what others give me isn't terribly important. Some people do past cookie-cutter responses, and some people take a bad review *way* to personally, but in the end it's not that important. In some reviews I've been called all sorts of colourful names because I was critical (I give out 1s), but too bad, say I, don't add a crappy site to LR if you don't want it reviewed :)

I just had a bad review yesterday because I was honest about someone's site. I try to look at it from a customers point of view, and then review it honestly. This person spent less then 10 seconds on my site and then stated that it was hard navigate and did not load quickly (because that is what I said to him). I am a breeder and people who visit my site would be looking for puppies. I know that not everyone is looking for puppies... that is how I review though if I were looking for this product/products would I buy here, why why not?

You are working in a system were people do take comments personally, in order to get people to accept comments just give them a little bit at a time.Do not take bad or stupid reviews to heart over time these will have no effect on a site that consistently gets good reviews and not all of us are such a problem. You are on the right track.

Simple and right to the point. At the end of the day we really dont need to even say so much about this problem that lots of us now and then receive, if you get upset easily then dont post your site. It's a little bit like all the pop star shows, people who cant sing at all get mad when the jury tells them the truth and then they start insulting back. But as in every sport there is always a bad sport somewhere!

You are right, honest reviews help to improve the sites, but only when the opinion is professional and give solutions and give suggests. But some times "honest" opinions are without basis. If you make your reviews honestly with basis, all of us will be grateful.

One of the most important things in review is to feel a sense of achievement and that the impossible (achieving the ideal website) is possible.It is great to also get the opportunity to talk to like minded people, Mark if to get to come to NZ look me up.

I think honest reviews are for the best. I appreciate it if someone tells the truth to correct an error or to improve. If something is truthful flaw or potential improvement it is better to find out here and now than somewhere else. If someone gives me a high review and upon a review of their site I find something wrong, I will tell them. If it is something embarrassing like and inverted picture, or grammatical or spelling errors. I will tell them. They can always set the review to private. Honest opinions DO NOT INCLUDE SPAM. The remedy for that is setting the review to private and inducting into The Spammers Hall Of Shame. I hope more persons will be honest and helpful in the reviews.
