I have heard that the search engines like to find your website more naturally using backlinks, keyword recognition etc instead of them being submitted manually or by a program. Does anyone have any thoughts on that??? Thanks

Submitting them lets the search engines find you quicker but for better results let them find you naturally. That however could take years depending on what you are trying to promote.

LOL, it does not take " years" for the major SE's to index your site naturally. My first site was indexed by Google, Yahoo and MSN in under a month, with no submission and zero links. Now, if your site is not optimized properly for your keywords, then it will be years and/or never to get a good SERP placement. But, SERP and getting your site indexed are two different things.

I say what a waste of money!! As stated here within this thread, you can do all your submitting for free. And really, who cares!! I get the feeling this is just another thread to getting SEO information and there many threads throughout LR to get much information needed. If you want to know how to submit your website, just ask..geesh!!

:-) I was speaking metaphorically. It feels like years however mine was found in about 2 months.

Most of the better engines will find your site naturally and this is usually the best process. But not a bad idea to do a couple submits on new sites to get things started.
