Google Ranking
"I just got a number 1 google ranking on an organic keyword search after a week of setting up all the SEO. How do I caqpitalize on that and kep it there and further my expansion into more keywords. Does changing content on a page often decrease or increase the possability of a higher ranking?" |

Just make sure when you change your content you keep your keyword density the same. Part of the formula to where you are is the density - the amount of time that keyword has been used on your site. If you add/remove text, that will alter your density.

Marie is correct. When you change content on your site AFTER you have received a good SERP placement, make those content changes as subtle as you can, as to not disturb the keyword density of the keyword/phrase that you already have a serp placement for. One of the biggest mistakes new webmasters make is in thinking that they are suppose to " update" content changes all the time. Unless you are a blog, constant content changes are not necessary. You would make the changes to your content only if your site has fallen/dropped in the SERP for keywords, or if you are trying to " Up" the serp position for keywords/phrases. If all is good, then leave well enough alone, till the next algo changes ( if that new algo has hurt your serp).

No it does not !!You are talking about PR. The OP is talking about SERP. PR and SERP are two different things.

If you already have a #1 position in the SERP then dont mess with that! It's sometimes better NOT to change anything than to risk everything just to make your site look updated. I know of aged, static sites that haven't been updated in YEARS that still hold their strong top 5 positions in Google. Tread carefully with any changes you make!

When you gain a #1 spot on Google it is important to start building back links to that site. There are several ways to do that. My favorite is to write a relevant article, spin it using automatic article submitter, then link back to the website in the author signature box and blast it out to 300 directories. This builds Alexa ranking and backlinks. Then I would make a video about the site and blast it out through Traffic geyser linking back to the site that is ranking.

You are absolutely correct Asmodeus !!!!New webmasters read the old outdated articles on " Content is King " and " Google likes content changes". LOL, constantly changing your site page content can do more damage to their serp position, than they realize. But, I guess they have to learn the hard way as most of us have. LOL, the ONLY time I make any content changes on my site is to add or delete a product. And when I am forced to do so, my hair stands on end, since you have to be so careful as not to upset the density for your keywords. All it takes is to add/delete one or two keywords/phrases in your content and the SE's might decide to drop your position. And going back to correct the mistake does not always work. Once the damage is done, then it is like starting all over again. LOL, and having to trouble shoot the density problem/changes you made is as nerve racking as it comes. It is a terrible feeling to see your serp position drop because of content changes. Your serp drops, so will your heart, lol !

I agree with Pamela and Marie, Don't change your keyword density. I had a number 1 spot, started changing some products and keywords, has taken a while to get back what I lost on search spot.
