Self Promotion In Review
"I think it is adequate that the reviewer's name and url is given with the review. There is no need for self promotion in the review box. This is for comments pertaining to the reviewed website. If I receive a review with excessive self promotion I reserve the right to do the same or make the review private and not return the review. What are your thoughts on this?" |

You are correct. It is also known as spamming and it is not allowed on LR. Not allowed in a review and not allowed in the forums. The only place you are allowed to self promote is in the General Forum category. Some LR members and I started a " Spammers Wall of Shame". You can find it in the Website Devel - Other - Forum. Name and shame all the spammers, they are out of control! I set ALL spammy reviews on private...

I have seen the forum, great work! I think it is going to be a long lasting forum LOL. I will be placing future spammers on The Spammers Wall Of Shame.

What I find so hilarious is the fact that spamming in a review and / or the forums is unnecessary, since your url is already attached/linked to the review/forum. Kinda like over kill. I set all spammy reviews on private - even if they give a score of ten. I will not be compliant in advertising for them. Spammers - No Click for You !!!!

The LR administrator, Mike, usually does, but you have to email him about the spammy review.

When I've gotten a spammy review, I've made sure that I DON'T give them a click or review. I mark their review private and ignore them. Now, of course, I'll be adding their name and partial url on the Spammers Wall of Shame. I've decided to not put their entire url because I don't want the forum visitors to give them a click!!
