"I get a fair amount of traffic from Twitter. It is also a useful way to get your site crawled by SEs.I find socialoomph.com useful in that it allows you to set up an automated DM to all new followers. It also lets you schedule future tweets, although I don't tend to use that so much." |

I recently posted about YouLikeHits bit.ly/qZvNWp as I have used it for a long time and really like it - however there have recently been a lot of fake/spam accounts using it with the result that if you exchange your daily credits for followers most of those credits are being wasted by these useless followers. I still find the site very useful only at the moment I'm tending to exchange my credits for retweets instead of followers...

Why not use a "one-stop" service to better leverage your social-media presence (not just Twitter, but also Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Pinterest, &c.)?Myself, I use, with some success, dlvr.it, which happens to have a free basic platform.

I use Twitter and have almost 500 followers, but I find most of those followers are people that want to buy their services to help you get traffic or grow your business and since I have already wasted over $1000 with other companies claiming to be able to do the same, I have not taken any of the Twitter people up on their offer. And all the traffic in the world doesn't mean anything if people are not buying, but fortunately I can say with the free methods I have been using I AM getting traffic and sales. I have an virtual online shopping mall and since it is the holiday shopping season anyone is ready to shop. And I am grateful for that, so Twitter is good for getting the word out about your business.

Twitter is usually the first place I promote a new product as it is so easy to tweet and so fast ,I am not sure why it does not seem to bring many viewers at times though.. I also post on Facebook ,Myspace,Heart it,Tumblr,and Pinterest which is getting more followers now since I started pinning other things on seperate boards as well as my designs on products and getting more traffic from there too now..

I have tried these kind of follower exchanges before and came to conclusion that it was simply a waste of time. Think for a minute. People who choose to follow you are there to earn credits, just like you. The more people they follow, the more credits they will earn, so the only reason they won't follow is if following you will reflect badly on their twitter profile. They will have followed so many people on these services, they are very unlikely to ever read your, or anyone elses, tweets. what, then is the point?

I would suggest typing into the twitter search box terms that are related to the business you promote. For example, if you are in the "make money online niche" you would type these words in and then ad people that match those terms. Add 50 people a day and send out tweets on a regular basis. Make sure the tweets are informative or inspirational and include your links in a few of them and you will get traffic. It's all about consistency.

I do the same. When checking the google analytics I notice that I do get visitors from twitter so I believe that it words if you do it effectively.
