WORDPRESS

"Hi

I am thinking of using WordPress to make some sites (wordpress comes free with the hosting I am think of subscribing to). But, I've never used WordPress before. How does it compare to FrontPage or DreamWeaver -- is it basically like those or maybe easier to use? If anyone who has used WP before and could comment, would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Dave"

Wordpress is a great tool to start your website. It contains various types of plugin. Learn more about plugins and use it wisely. I suggest Yoast Seo plugin to correct check all the seo parameters met the google guidelines or not. Good luck

for hosting it would be free for 1 Year, if you are getting more visitors to your site then, without intimation hosting account will be suspended. if you try to contact them, they will reply "do to many visitors we can't handle the load, so please go to paid version".

ordPress is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) based on PHP and MySQL. WordPress is installed on a web server, which either is part of an Internet hosting service or is a network host itself; the first case may be on a service like WordPress.com, for example, and the second case is a computer running the software package WordPress.org

WordPress started in 2003 with a single bit of code to enhance the typography of everyday writing and with fewer users than you can count on your fingers and toes. Since then it has grown to be the largest self-hosted blogging tool in the world, used on millions of sites and seen by tens of millions of people every day.

Dear Dave,

For beginners....Blogger is easier to use. But the SEO options and interface designs are much more attractive with Wordpress. You lose out on the giant affiliation to google services like Adsense and Analytics though. Try it out buddy.

I use WordPress and like it very much. I use the Leslie theme. There are many themes to choose from, but this one works well for bloggers. There are so many plug-ins to choose from and the more you use WordPress the more plug-ins are offered to you. Yoast will provide good SEO for you and will also give you so many free videos and workshops that you will become a professional in no time. The media kit is nice to use and can be cross referenced in different ways. The longer I use WordPress the more I learn about it. I also like the freedom I have with the header feature. Google loves WordPress - epecially the more content you put in. If you use Google Adsense your ads will look beautiful. Also - this is a good tip - Get on Pinterest and look for Blogging Pins. You will learn a lot of good ideas for WordPress that will get you going real fast. Good Luck!

I agree with everyone else that wordpress is great.

One of the best things are the free plugins. Easy to use and they help you do almost anything you need to (e.g. forms, favicon, facebook buttons)

Good luck :)

Hi Dave,

Nice choice.. Wordpress is one of the leading web applications today for blogs.. it is very much easier. I dont think yo can compare wordpress with frontpage or dreamviewer cos both are different applications and platforms. any way it is easy to use and not much coding required as the inbuilt blog editor will be helpful and easy to create posts and publish. you will experience as you use it. here are some useful links which will be helpful for you to become familiar with wordpress.

WordPress is very easy. Most you can pretty much figure out just by using common sense but there are many tutorials online on the various aspects that can also help a lot. Google loves WordPress sites as long as you use the blog and put new content just about daily. many plugins also for free that do amazing things like seo and others..I love WordPress sites.

Have been using Wordpress.com for a few months now, and understand everything pretty well. If you want a simple blog that is not a money maker, it is excellent. Easy to start and run. After awhile, you want to do a little extra, and WP gets restrictive. Like limitations on pictures in the side columns. Like no affiliate advertising. No Amazon advertising. A lot of no - no - no when you start trying to making money on your site. Then when you get some decent traffic, WP puts their own ads on your site for them to make money. You have to pay $30 a year to have them stop dumping ads on your site. And a lot of their ads are really bad. In the middle of a posting, not related to the topic, just dumped in there. So now, I am on the lookout for an easy to operate blog system that allows me more flexibility in doing what I want. For sure I will pay more than I am now with WP (which is near free for me), but I want to make that change.

There is a combo pack of Wordpress and PHPBB Integration Available. Wordpress alone does not support forums. If you want to host a site for forums i suggest you go for PHPBB or SMF both are leading.

thanks for the info!

If you're site is a blog wordpress is the way to go. It's easier than Dreamweaver and it can do quite a bit of non-blog related site design as well. But for more complex sites you'd need to use Dreamweaver.
